We've been pretty quiet lately, so thought I'd ask a question. Maybe it's been asked before, but my memory sucks, so I don't remember.
How long have you been in miniatures?
I got my first miniature in January 2005, so I've had miniatures for 17 years. That first mini, Dakota, is now 18 years old. My second mini, Misty, is now 19 years old. Off the top of my head, I don't know the age of the rest of them; but Tana was bought as a weanling and Bonny as I think a yearling in 2005 or 2006, I can't remember now, but they are both in their upper teens. Che` is around 26 years old. I bought Baybe, my only purchased A-size mare, in 2011; she slipped her foal in 2012 (I bought her because she was about Che`s size, thought she would be a good cross, but it hasn't worked out). Sophia is the same age as her half-sister Caddy; I bought Caddy as a yearling or two year old, but lost her a few years ago, her half-sister Sophia came up for sale shortly after, so I had to get her. I got Topper as a coming 2 year old in 2010 (I think that's the right year, it was the year Little King didn't have their Octoberfest sale, because of a death in the family). The rest of the herd are raised foals. Topper's first foal crop in 2012; Junior (sold), Manny and Monte. Topper's second crop in 2016; Spotty and Bliss. Sophia was pregnant when I bought her, that foal, Belle was born in 2018. Topper's last crop of foals in 2020: Quigley and Rain. And, the one and only longear, Tilly; born in 2012; she and Baybe really bonded. I probably won't breed any more, as my mares are aged or related to my stallion, and I just don't have any more room.
