Nope. She doesn't even look ready anymore. I think she had a little hormonal spike. But she is posisitong it more and stuff so all in good time. She will go as soon as I go to work I just know it.

I suspect in three weeks she will!

She's back to salty milk and all normal vitals. I reckon she just got broody meeting Louie!

In other news the little outside mare is looking ready to go but she was covered same dates as charms second go so they could go together.

I don't even know where to begin. Her water broke at 11:50 and I waited about 15mins with nothing coming out then phoned her owner to come round. In the mean time I went in and could feel two hooves but no head. When owner got her she quickly deduced the legs were upside down, and I went in again to have a feel about and it was clear it was back legs, so foal was breach. Owner stayed with her while I called the neighbour and vets.

During the time we were waiting for them to come we tried several times to manipulate the foal and I could feel two hocks, knees and hips and then the front feet but I just couldn't get it to move in the right direction during contracts. Neighbour arrived just before vet and he too tried to manipulate it and by this time charm was exhausted.

Vet got here and had it pulled out in seconds cause I think neighbour had manipulated it enough so vet just had to get the hips out. He said the foal had been dead for a few days by this stage maybe longer so it was stiff, hence not being able to manipulate it so well.

Judging from the size and development I think he was about 300days and well formed in 99% of his body but his middle part was quite compressed and joints seemed quite large but again it's hard to tell. I just keep hoping there is nothing I did or didn't do that caused her to go prem. she was flu/tet vaccinated in the 4th June and wormed with ivermectin on 14th may. She was getting a stud balancer since May. I keep thinking maybe she needed more nutrition sooner, or the vaccine was off (but then goldie got the same one and nothing happened Louie)

Charm is fine. She didn't loook for the foal after and I pulled it round a little and she did lick at it but I thought she would start to get stressed if I left it so I made the decision to just remove him and Charm didn't care. Within half an hour she was up, ate a warm mash dinner and some hay. Just rested over night and today still very tired. I'll put her out tomorrow with thriller and see if I can get her dried up cause I don't think she will be suitable for a foster at the moment.

He was a bay just like meadow.

I have a photo of him if anyone wanted to see but I won't post it publicly.

Sorry end to my breeding year.

I am just so sorry.
I really don't think its anything you've done or didn't do. By looking at pictures its hard to say exactly what was wrong... But you have done such a good job with your girls.
We understand though how you feel....most of us have lost foals and understand. We also understand the need to find a reason.. Just know that you have taken excellent care of your mares... Your blameless.
I am hoping that Charm continues to do ok. Glad she has done so well so far.

Hayley - I was so sad for you when I read this.  I totally understand how difficult it can be, yet it's never the same for any owner/breeder.

Thinking of you with cyber hugs, today.  Glad that Charm is doing well and hope she gets the rest that she needs.
