Since, I seem to be all about nutrition and trying to do my best with what I can readily get locally, if I can...
I added some alfalfa pellets to Baybe's ration last month. Since, Baybe shares hay with Tilly, the mini donkey, the hay needs to be plain grass hay, as donkey's don't need alfalfa or any other rich feed; so I'll be adding to Baybe's daily ration to improve her diet. All the mares (and, Tilly) are on a 12% protein extruded feed, it looks like rice krispies (and except for Bliss, they all love it), so to bump up nutrition for pregnancy/lactation I'll add either alfalfa pellets (like I did for Baybe) or a ration balancer (like I did the 2012 foaling season, which kept the mares in good condition).
