With as pronounced as his dun stripe is, I agree he's inherited mom's dun gene.  He also looks to have a dark wither stripe, or it could be his little mane laying down.

He has quite the personality, this fella is very independent and stresses Katie out. He runs all the way across the pasture, follows Shadow plays with our Pika puppy... When he is awake he is high gear. He climbs all over me runs and bucks. Kicks and jumps.
