Thank you!!
Oh gosh Chanda! They are SO adorable! I just want to cuddle then all!
How cold does it have to get before you's get snow? We dont get snow here, the only snow I have seen is man made snow, well I think it was man made lol.
Ohh, alright that makes sense
Haha sorry I should have mentioned the seasons here. Wait, so I know nothing about the world and other places but do all of our seasons go in the same order? Like ours is Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring. Is everyone's like that? That is a stupid question but I am curious now haha
Texas is so easy to handle compared to Willows foal she had in 2014... Although that was no fault of his own.
I'm going to tell a little story. (It will probably be really big) Okay Its REALLY big.
-----------------------------
My parents friends were the ones who got me Willow, well we paid for her but they got her off parents that were getting too old and had no time for horses. So I got Willow and along with that came 3 more minis and a 2 week old mini foal-they belonged to our friends but they were on our property. Now our friends are 'know it alls'. They were out at our place EVERY DAY and every day I would get some piece of criticism about Willow.
It was horrible, they picked at things like worming. I always wormed Willow every 6-8 weeks as the box said and from advice from the people at the tack store and online. Our friends were telling me I was going way overboard and that I should worm every 6 to 12 MONTHS, so they were stating that I should only worm once or twice a year.
I showed them the box and everything and they were too stubborn to listen to me. (Also when I got Snickas in 2014 they looked at her and they were guaranteed that she would foal in April 2015. Now look, she foaled exactly a year later, the reason they thought that was because she was fat)
Then you bring farriers, breeding, foaling into it, it was beyond a joke. All because since they had known Willow for so many years they had some sort of 'power' over me and what I did with her. It actually crossed my mind a few times to sell Willow just so they would get off my back, but Willow means too much to me. Ill also add that they had only owned one horse like 15 years ago when their kids were young. He was a little shetland. And because of that they think they know everything, but no one knows everything.
Anyway Ill get to the Bam Bam Part. So our friends were unfortunately here when Willow foaled. They were saying not to interfere, and bam what do you know they are in there pulling on Bam Bam's legs not waiting for contractions. She looked like she had no clue what she was doing, and at the time I think I was freaking out cause I had never seen it before to stop her from doing what she was doing.
Anyway. Bam Bam came out fine, and our friends said "Dont touch him for a week or two or Willow will reject him" Me with so little knowledge believed her. And Bam Bam was so hard to work with after that, he was terrified of people and he was a strong little boy It took me so long to get him used to me and trust me.
So after that I decided to start learning for myself, I joined forums and began reading books and watching videos. After 3 years our friends decided to take their horses to their new place while we were out, came home and I began freaking because their mare likes to break through fences and I thought they got out and ran away. Turns out they took them without letting us know, and still to this day there is no simple "Thank you" for looking after their horses and providing them food, and most of all putting up with them, and their criticism.
-----------------------------
2 weeks before Bam Bam was born I spent all my savings on my Toby, there was one condition that if Willow had a colt I had to sell him, which I did. Then when Bam came along and he was about 8 months old our friends were saying I should SELL Toby and keep Bam Bam. That made my blood boil, one because they knew how much Toby meant to me and two, I was NOT breeding Bam Bam with his mother. They were saying that Bam Bam was much better than Toby and that Toby wasnt even a nice looking horse...
BUT anyway. They are gone now and now when they come over and state something about my horses I either walk away or say "What ever you think"
I got in with Texas fairly early, I gave Snickas and her time to bond, but not 2 weeks. Now Texas follows you around, gives you cuddles and she runs to you whinnying.
Sorry for such a big reply. Also, This is a thank you to all the people who have helped me over the past almost year, for understanding and helping me improve.
