So EXCITING that your girls' are getting closer!

Glad to hear that the bum calf may be doing ok...  If you have to give him a bottle tonight, will/can they still bond?  I'm not used to cattle or other livestock - I know that it's pretty definite with a mare/foal if it's going to work...  though sometimes they can fool you.

Cows are a bit more accepting than mares in general, but there are always exceptions.  This cow wanted a calf in a big way after hers died, so we are trying.   If I have to give him a bottle tonight, it'll just be a partial to keep his strength so he keeps chasing the cow to look for more. 
I'm trying to finish up a couple quilts before summer, just down to the quilting and binding on 2, binding on 1, and the whole thing on a charity quilt for guild (it's not due til September, so have time to muddle through it).

I'm back to feeding my calf this morning, the cow was bunting the calf this morning.   Really needed to be able to put the cow in the maternity pen to allow the calf to try to nurse, but even with that I don't know if a cow would be accepting of this calf he's a very aggressive nursery, and tends to bite on the bottle nipple.

Nothing new with the mares today.

Nope, isn't going to happen, so he's just going to be a bottle baby.
I had three for awhile, but two were grafted onto cows, so that was good.

They're cute, but if I get something other than the Red Angus we raise I want a Galloway Belted, they call them Oreo cows.

Not sure what to make of Misty, and whether she is or isn't.  She's the thinnest she's ever been this spring, despite near free feeding mix hay and getting a bit of pellets; but she has a little pooch in her belly.  Just weird, so I'll give it time and see what happens; might see about adding a probiotic to her diet, and see if that helps (I have a mixed species probiotic I bought for the bum calf, I've used it on the horses before, so might give her a bit and see).

A few little prayers for Boots, last fall's orphan barn cat...  Don't know what got into her, but my dog got into with him this morning, and it looks like his head took the brunt of it, at the time he had a bloody nose; well, now he has a swollen face and feels pretty miserable.  I gave him a tiny bit of aspirin per previous instructions on how to dose it, hope I didn't over do it, but rather just right so he'll feel better and maybe get a bit of sleep and then feel like eating some.

Pic of Boots from last October when he was still getting KMR, he was only about a month old when his mom abandoned him, as many do in the fall.  He's grown a bit, but still probably a third smaller than other kittens from last year (the ones raised by queens, are all bigger than he is by a fair amount).
